The municipality or township Nevrokopi Kato Nevrokopi is a municipality of Drama. Spread over a very large area occupying the entire northwestern part of the county. It occupies a total area of 872 square kilometers. and is the largest municipality in area of Greece. Composed of 16 local communities and one municipal community and has a total population of 7860 inhabitants (Tr. 2011). Headquarter is in Kato Nevrokopi. The municipality Kato Nevrokopi is the region of Greece which are usually marked by low temperatures during the winter months.
leukogia lake
Located 8 km from Kato Nevrokopi, it is an artificial lake of Leukogeion. The lake formed by the dam construction, for holding the Mylorematos water to meet the irrigation needs of the surrounding farmland.
The forest vegetation region consists predominantly of pine and oak forests. The beautiful landscape, which combines the liquid element with forest vegetation and landscaped recreational areas built on the shores of Lake, has created an excellent outdoor recreation venue.
Nestos River
The Rivers is a village in the municipality of Kato Nevrokopi of Prefecture of Drama in eastern Macedonia.
The village lies at the foot of Falakro mountain, east of the Nestos River, 70 km. North of Drama and 30 km. East of Kato Nevrokopi at 420 meters altitude. Located on the banks of the River Nestos and the lake created after the construction of the Treasure Dam. It is in fact the first large village with Nestos on Hellenic soil.
According to the latest census it has a population of 323 inhabitants.
At the point where the waters are joined Despati and the stream of Melissomandras, there is a recreation area and other activities, which built the chapel of St. Raphael, many visitors destination all year round. The rivers are dominated by a combination of paradasovias and dense aquatic vegetation and fauna. It is preferred by hunters and has many taverns. A bit further there is the cave of the river, which can not be visited.
Livadaki
Livadaki is located in K. Nevrokopi area at an altitude of 720 meters and is the Drama 54.5 km. It is known for the famous post-Byzantine church of the Assumption, its size can not be justified by the population of the village has always been of many. But this temple of 1870 is one of the best preserved monuments, at least for now the interior decoration. The icon of the temple is popular and impresses with the color of courage and remarkable is the wooden temple as well as despotic. On the west side of the church rises a magnificent art bell tower, built in 1890, and the cost of its construction will be far exceeded by the financial capabilities of the inhabitants.
