About Afyssos, Pelion
Afissos is a well-known seaside resort and is located 26km away. from the city of Volos via the coastal road. From the main road you will find the junction leading to Afissos and without a second thought, it is worth a 2.5km extra course and visit it, of course, if your final destination is not there.
Afissos, like other villages in Pelion, is fortunate not to be on the main road. It is built amphitheatrically above the beach, amidst olive groves and is an ideal place for relaxation and relaxation. The tourist infrastructure is very well developed and by choosing Afissos for your vacation, you can be sure that you will not miss anything.
Shortly before entering the village, the road approaches Kallifteris beach, a lovely beach, ideal for swimming, without the slightest construction clues around. Some argued that this was the ancient city of Afetes, where, according to myth, the Argonauts were supplied with water there. The truth is that in the center of the settlement right in the square, there is a spring that gives life to the village and quenches visitors.
At first glance Afissos reminds an island. Its beaches (Kallifteris and the pebble Amobos) as well as the white houses make a strong contribution to this. In August, the settlement is flooded by people and many residents of Volos choose Afissos for a one-day trip, and not just an excursion.
During the summer period, Cultural Events under the name “Argonauts” are organized in honor of Jason and the Argonauts, with theatrical performances and concerts
