The Neoi Epivates , also known as Baxe Tsifliki or simply Baxes , is a coastal town and a municipal district of the municipality of Thermaikos . It is located 22 km east of Thessaloniki , on the Thermaikos Gulf. Ecclesiastically it belongs to the Metropolis of Nea Krini and Kalamaria, and its patron is Oasia Paraskevi Epavatini . According to the 2001 census, the population of the New Passengers was 4,070 inhabitants.
Until the liberation of Macedonia in 1912, the area occupied by the Municipality of Thermaikos today was the feast of a Turkish pasha and was called Bahtis Tsiflik (Turkish bahçe). The new settlement of the Epavian refugees was created in the area where the summer house of Pasha was located (in the same location is today the temple of Oasis Friday of Epavalis , the patron saint of the town). At that location were installed in 1923, after the exchange of populations , 159 refugee families (631 persons), all derived from the town Passengers , suburb of Constantinople , and gave the nameYoung Passengers , although it never ceased to be in use and the second name Baxe Tsifliki , both from the Epavates and from the old Thessalonians. Since 1928, the Young Employees have been the attraction of the Thessalonians. This helped to ensure that the refugees took care to make a wooden port as soon as they had settled, and regular boat transport (5 Navy boats started in the inter-war period).
