It is worth seeing in Grevena

In the city of the caravans
From Grevena pass all, even the Egnatia Odos. In the wider region of Macedonia, it has always been a city-station for caravans and a communications hub with Trikala and Thessaly , Kozani, Metsovo , Samarina and the Vlach villages, as well as Vasilitsa of Pindos. Today, the city lives and entertains in the pedestrian center. At Eleftherias Square and at Amilianou Square, the warmth triggers the atmosphere even on the coldest nights. In the cool air, the smell from the fireplace and the delicious local roasts served in the taverns will make you feel this city of Northern Greece … like your home.

Pindos National Park: ecotourism feast
It is not the cloudless waters in the streams and the rare red pine forests alone. It is the variety of landscapes that will enchant you in the Pindos National Park. The “warm” Valia Calda Valley, which embraces high peaks. The thousand colors in the autumn leaves, the scent of aromatic herbs, the snowy peaks, the two alpine lakes of Flegg, the Arkoudorema in the footsteps of the brown bear. Different colors and ecosystems all coexist harmoniously in the cold air of Pindos.

Journey to the traditional Vlach villages
Between the bridges and dense forests, the vlach villages of the prefecture keep the tradition alive. The proud Samarina, the most famous village of Pindos, occupies the first of the highest built settlements in Greece that are permanently inhabited. It is located at an altitude of 1450 m on the mountain of Smolikas and its nature promises to enchant you.

Vasilitsa: The Queen of Snow
Vasilitsa was a simple top of Smolikas before she became a famous queen. The ski resort, however, gave her the reputation it deserves among the other ski resorts in Greece. Today, in the village of Smixi you will enjoy all the comforts of a modern “steki” ski resort. Unlike modernization around the resort, the ski center has little impact on the natural landscape. Here, the slopes were designed in the forest. Ski and snowboard in the heart of the forest. The best.

Smixi: When the Vlach villages
are merged It is the closest village to the ski resort on the side of Grevena. In this authentic Vlachohori of Macedonia, which originated from the “mingling” of two old settlements, you will enjoy staying in luxury hotels or traditional guesthouses and local delicacies in excellent restaurants and taverns.

The hidden treasures of Grevena
Stone bridges
Are scenic sights of the area: In every stone you will recognize art and passion. They grace the river banks. Those of Portitsa and Aziz Aga are among the most beautiful.

Vacations in the mammoth place
200,000 years ago in Grevena there should have been mammoth elephants who weighed nearly 12 tons. Their bones were accidentally found in the Ambelia area and the investigations continue.

The cave of Grevena
If you look well over the Venetian Valley, you will see a cluster of houses that climb and ride on the screech of the River Verona. It is the Grevena cave, at an altitude of 960 meters, an important site attraction, with the famous monastery of Panagia Spiliotissa.
